Images

MSF has an extensive archive of photos and videos giving testimony to and denouncing situations, which follow our ethical guide for capturing, editing and publishing images. The images must faithfully reflect the realities they portray, and always respect the dignity of people and not stigmatise them.

In addition, they must show the diversity of our teams, be inclusive and not reproduce stereotypes.

In editing, the proportions of the images must be respected and it is recommended not to reframe the original format excessively. They must always be published with copyright credits.

Use and application

Whether photographs, videos or illustrations, images should be positioned clearly and forcefully. They should coexist harmoniously with the identifying elements: logo, colour and typography, keeping to two basic rules:

  • The colour white should be used as an identifying element.

  • Neither texts nor the logo should be placed directly on top of images.
